Group"Aspire to Absolute Zero"(Prof.Jin's Lab)
General Information
Founded in the 2003, the group in the Institute of Refrigeration and Cryogenics of Zhejiang University, has been working on the field of thermoacoustics and cryogenics. During 2005-2016, Dr. Ke TANG served as a postdoc and then associate professor in the group. At present (July 2018), there are two faculty members (Prof. Tao JIN and Dr. Jianjian WEI), 6 doctoral candidates and 5 postgraduates.

Faculty members
Prof. Tao JIN
Dr. Tao JIN is a Professor, deputy dean of the College of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University, China. He received his Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees from Zhejiang University in 1996 and 2001, respectively. During his Ph.D. study, he was jointly trained at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France from October 1999 to October 2000. He performed his post-doctoral research at the State Key Laboratory of Modern Acoustics, Nanjing University. He was then appointed as an associate professor in Zhejiang University in 2003 and was promoted as a full professor in 2008. He visited the USA at National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab) and National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) as the guest scientist from September 2007 to September 2008. He also visited France at Université de Pierre et Marie Curie (Université Paris-VI) as a visiting professor from July 2013 to August 2013.
He is one of the earliest scholars working in the field of thermoacoustics in China and has been devoted continuously to this research topic, including the standing wave thermoacoustic prime movers and their onset and damping behavior, the thermoacoustically driven pulse tube refrigeration, the thermoacoustic prime movers with gas-liquid coupling or liquid-vapor phase change, and the looped traveling wave thermoacoustic prime mover driven by low-grade heat. Besides, the cryogenic phase change heat transfer is also his research interest, focusing on liquid nitrogen, liquid hydrogen and cryogenic slurry. He ever published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in the scientific journals, such as Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, Scientific Reports, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Applied Energy, Energy, Applied Thermal Engineering, Cryogenics, and International Journal Hydrogen Energy. He was also granted 16 Chinese invention patents.
Dr. Jianjian WEI
Dr. Jianjian WEI graduate from Zhejiang University and received his doctor degree in 2015 from the University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Li Yuguo. After servicing as post-doctoral fellow in University of Hong Kong for one and half a year, he join the Institute of Refrigeration and Cryogenic of Zhejiang University up to now. He has published more than a dozen papers indexed by SCI including one published in PNAS as the joint first author. His research interests focus on indoor air quality and infectious disease, fluid dynamic and cold chain.
